420NJEvents Named to NJ.Com's "22 to Watch in 2022"
In the 13 months since New Jersey legalized cannabis consumption for people over 21 years of age, the state has laid the foundations to open the marketplace in 2022.
With a law to govern the industry now in place, a state regulatory body formed to issue rules, regulations and the permits to grow, distribute, test and sell legal weed.
As of early January, the state has accepted some 300 applications to operate. Another application window opens in March. Which municipalities approve of the businesses, increased product testing to handle an influx of supply and the potential for amendments to the law all ride high on the horizon as those applicants seek their fortunes in a multi-billion dollar industry that comes at the intersection of health, culture and politics.
