Mike Tyson to Debut his Bitten-Ear-Shaped Edibles at 3 N.J. Legal Weed Shops Over Labor Day Weekend

Legendary boxer-turned-cannabis mogul Mike Tyson is visiting three New Jersey legal dispensaries this weekend to promote the release of his bitten-ear-shaped edibles — named after one of his most infamous moments in his pugilist career. As co-founder and chief branding officer of Tyson 2.0, the 56-year-old “Iron Mike” will meet and greet budtenders and fans, snap photos and sign autographs on Saturday at the following locations.

  • From noon to 1 p.m., Tyson will be at the Cannabist in Deptford. Tyson 2.0 has partnered with Columbia Care to bring their premium products to 12 markets across the nation.
  • From 2:30 to 4 p.m., he will be at the Zen Leaf Dispensary in Neptune Township. Lucky consumers will have the chance to win a signed glove from Tyson through Verano’s social or in-store sweepstakes.
  • Tyson’s last stop at the Apothecarium’s Lodi dispensary will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Select consumers who buy over $200 worth of product in the days leading up to Tyson 2.0′s visit, will win access to the “fast-pass” line to meet the notorious boxing champion in the flesh.

Tyson 2.0 has also partnered with Zen Leaf to fly an airplane banner promoting his visits over the Jersey Shore on Friday evening.

In an interview in April with Chris Williams of FOX Television Stations, Tyson spoke about his initial hesitation to enter the legal cannabis scene after so many years of the substance being illegal.

“After seeing other cannabis companies gradually come to profit, I decided that this is what I want to do,” Tyson said during a seven-minute interview on Austin’s Fox 7. “It’s hard work, but it’s a sexy business. You are going to lose big in the beginning. As long as you don’t get discouraged, you can be successful.”

Adam Wilks, CEO of Tyson 2.0, talked about the quality level of the product. He insisted that they chose to work with small businesses instead of large corporations to ensure access to the highest quality flower and other source ingredients.

“We have the best tasting edible on the planet. I can say that proudly, because we tested it against 12 other leading products in the market. There are only a handful of ingredients in it — it’s a vegan and gluten free gummy,” said Wilks. “We have many other flavors and products coming further down the line. We would love for everyone to just try it.”
When asked about the bitten-ear-shape of the edibles, Tyson said that it was his way of controlling the narrative after his notorious moment with opponent Evander Holyfield 25 years ago.
